Early Reader Phonics Song

Use this song to study all the ABC's plus the short vowel sounds. The short vowels are the A as in "cat," I as in "sit," E as in "wed," O as in "hot" and U as in "up." I teach that C sounds like K (sometimes S) and G sounds like the G in "girl" (sometimes like J). Also notice that this song shows how consonants change as the last letter. X is usually a last letter and sounds  like Z as a first letter, as in "xylophone." H is usually silent as a last letter and Y is usually a long E as in "happy" (sometimes a long I as in "try"). W as last letter often changes the vowel sound--"aw" sounds like "ah." Q also becomes a K sound as a last letter.
