Reading Comprehension Questions: Stories for Everyday Practice

Practice reading with these stories for kids at the elementary to low intermediate level. They move progressively from easy to hard. All stories incloude reading comprehension questions. Learn more about teaching reading comprehension.

These pages are designed to help parents read every day with their kids. Remember that phonics are a good foundation for learning to read, but English is full of phonetic exceptions. Kids need to spend some time reading aloud with an adult throughout elementary school. Reading together--the child reading one line/paragraph and the parent reading the next--helps the child practice and also observe how the parent reads. Remember, the "hardest" are intermediate-hardest. Move on to Advanced Readers if needed.
